we live in a world that pushes us to “move on” from grief with stilted ceremony, silence, and transactions…
it can feel icky. isolating.
imagine a sounder system, one that offers a softer and less lonely way to move through loss:

a slow-rolling collab space for people to assemble an annotated musical memorial for the dying or deceased

each musical memorial will be a totally unique devotional to the departed, filled with a variety of songs contributed by their friends and family

Q: are you saying it’s a group playlist? to grieve to?
A: indeed, but with nicely-mixed transitions and no streaming subscriptions required
Q: but it’s also…a message board?
A: yes, and the messages are exactly how ddDJ’s “sounder system” summons and sequences the musical memorial, which updates over time (as people add more songs + stories)
Q: how long are the musical memorials?
A: mix length varies depending on how many people participate and which songs they contribute, most ending up with around 1-2 hours of music
Q: what if I can’t think of any songs to contribute?
A: ddDJ will have plenty of prompts and thought starters to get your memory jogged in musical ways! plus, you’ll be able to bounce off what others have added
Q: what if I’m not tech savvy? do I need to download something?
A: no worries. we’re keeping it pretty lo-fi for now. in this early stage of the service, everything lives in a shared online doc, so all you need is access to wifi or a smartphone + a gmail address to participate. simply reach out via email to begin the process:
